My Career
My Journey In The Workforce
Since young, my siblings and I were taught the importance of working hard to achieve something. All thanks to my dad’s entrepreneur spirit and my parent’s perseverance in providing for the family.
Working hard and always taking initiative are deeply rooted in me since young.
Below reflects my journey in the work force. For a more detailed listing of the tasks and responsibilities, you may refer to my CV, along with my certificates.
After High School
My siblings and I took turns in assisting my dad with this administrative tasks in his office during our school break, and I started working there full time and getting paid for it after I graduated high school at 17, while waiting admission to college.
During College
When I was attending college in Kuala Lumpur, I started working part-time for Baskin Robbins. One thing led to another, from part-time to full time, became a supervisor then to assistant manager, and was even offer a paid scholarship to study in return being bonded with the company. I turned down the offer as I was feeling young and free and didn’t want to commit. That taught me that opportunity is everywhere and if you work hard and give your best, things will work out favorably.
During University
After I started university in the US, there were lots of opportunity in earning extra credits and extra allowance with part-time employment. I became a Peer Advisor for the new incoming international students, Resident Advisor for the resident in the dormitory, Administrative Assistant in the library and the Marketing Department in business school, and Teaching Assistant for one of my professors in the entry level computer lab classes.
After University & Now
After obtaining my degree, I joined the management program in Gap Inc. in 2001.
After relocated to Singapore in 2003, I worked as the Marketing Manager for an event & entertainment company, Entertainment Quest, before joining Singapore Airlines in the cabin crew program in 2004.
After 12 years with Singapore Airlines, I relocated to Switzerland in 2016, and started working for The Nuance Group AG, a Dufry company, as the Country Core Marketing Specialist in 2017.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, I was one of the casualties in the re-structuring. However, I know I’ve left a damn good & positive impression on the people that I got to work with or crossed path with. Thanks to all the well wishes, and with that I’m filled with many ideas and confidence that I can do anything I put my mind into.
So let’s see what’s the next chapter for me. For now, I’m having to have a little time to myself, to learn & explore what’s out there, and to enrich & nourish my mind with new possibilities and horizons.
I’ve finished some courses on digital marketing and Adobe Design Suite, and of course learned how to create this website with WordPress.
In March 2022, I started my passion project – COLORS, an e-commerce store offering gender-free fashion.
My Passion Project - COLORS
As you can see from this website, that I am very much into unique fashion, and don’t like to segregate fashion according to gender. We should all be free to dress however we like, and what makes us happy.
So I started this passion project of mine, COLORS, where I offer gender-free fashion.
