Where i was
Part 2
My declaration of independence
After I graduated from the university in May 2001, I stayed in the US and started my career.
In July 2001, I moved to San Francisco, and was accepted into the management program by Gap Inc. in the headquarter in San Francisco, and started working as an Associate Manager in the flagship store on Market Street.
I was with the company for a year, and was wondering where else and what else I could explore. At that time, the attack on NYC World Trade Center happened, and shortly after that the US started the war with Afghanistan. Even though I was in the west coast, the little ounce of safety that I felt was even diminishing further. After much urges from my family, I decided to head home.Â
Instead of moving home to Malaysia, I moved to Singapore to be re-united with my best friend from university.
We were the dreamers in our early twenties, thinking about how we could conquer the world; how the world is our oyster. We dreamed, we laughed, we cried, we picked each other up. We really thought we could do anything we wanted, and be whoever we wanted to be. It was really a great time where we were supporting each other and keeping each other in check.
She was always encouraging, and heck! She even convinced me to join the first ever season of Singapore Idol. Those who know me, knows that I can barely hold a tune, but I went anyway. She was outside the room when I was turned away by the judges. No tears, but I got my 2-second of fame.

She even introduced me to my first job in Singapore, in marketing for an entertainment company.
Shortly after that, I was accepted into the Cabin Crew Program by Singapore Airlines, and started my jetting-around-the-world lifestyle.Â

I did that for 12 long years, from a flight steward to a leading steward. Visited a total of 38 countries and 70 cities.

I left Singapore Airline in July 2016 and moved to Zurich, Switzerland in August 2016.
